Mike Nolan, the Falcons coach who took over in December after the firing of Sean Payton, is on a $25 million salary in 2016.
Nolan’s annual base salary of $1.8 million will increase to $1 million in 2020, a salary increase of more than $1,000,000.
The Falcons will be able to offer Nolan an extension of at least two more years.
In his first season with the Falcons, Nolan won a Super Bowl with the New England Patriots and was the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Nolan was fired by the Saints last October for “poor leadership and personnel decisions.”
