My high school coach, Mark Smith, would have been disappointed.
The Longhorns’ star quarterback and All-American, Johnny Manziel, was already playing at Texas A &M.
Smith had coached Manziel since he was a freshman.
When Manziel graduated, Smith’s first priority was to find a way to get him a job in the NFL.
But Smith was not happy with Manziel’s performance and decided to move on.
Manziel was never a star at Texas, but he made a lot of money playing football at Texas.
“I just saw him go out there and do it, and that’s what I’m going to do,” Smith said.
“That’s what he’s going to continue to do.
I never really liked Johnny.
He didn’t do anything. “
The thing that stuck out for me the most was the way he handled himself after he walked off the field.
He didn’t do anything.
He just sat there.
I thought that was a very classy, classy act.
It’s something I think Johnny did, and I think the coaches in this program will continue to see that.”
Manziel was an All-Big 12 performer in his first year at Texas in 2013.
Now he is an NFL quarterback, but Texas will not be able to get a contract with him.
Smith said he will miss Manziel’s friendship with former Texas quarterback Matt Leinart.
Manziel said Leinard and his family are going to be disappointed.
Manziel told reporters earlier this month that Leinarts son, Travis, was playing for a team in Europe.
But the Cowboys didn’t extend an invitation to Leinertys son, a receiver.
“He’s a guy that has his family there,” Smith told reporters, “and I don’t think that would ever be the case with him.”
Smith said Manziel was happy playing in Dallas, but also was disappointed in Texas.
Texas is 1-6 this season and is coming off a season in which it lost seven of its final nine games.
Manziel has completed 70.4 percent of his passes and thrown four touchdowns in five games, but the Longhorns have lost nine straight and five of six.
Smith, who was fired in September, said the timing of his firing was not good.
“You get fired and you have a plan for the next three months, and then you have to look for a way,” Smith, 55, said.
