In the last year or so, we’ve seen a bunch of things.
First, the Chiefs were awful in the regular season, and that continued in Week 2 when they lost a playoff game by a combined score of 14 points.
The defense, in particular, was terrible, and Kansas City lost two of its top three corners, including Justin Houston, in the loss.
And while the Chiefs had some promising games, like a game against the Eagles in which they outscored Philadelphia 31-7, the offensive line was not quite as good as they’d hoped it would be.
And when it came to defense, the biggest thing we’ve learned this season has been the Chiefs’ lack of talent.
That’s a huge blow for this team to go down 2-0 with a game that looks a lot like last year’s game.
What we’re seeing in Week 1, the best part of the Chiefs season, was a team that looked like it was capable of playing at a high level for a whole season.
Now, with a defense that is only a year removed from being one of the worst in the NFL, this team is no longer even close to that.
And that, frankly, is really scary.
We can expect more bad in the future, and the Chiefs are still capable of a great season.
But the Chiefs will be a good team again, and we’ll see what happens after Week 1.
