Posted September 20, 2018 05:11:04With the Raiders facing an uncertain future, coach Derek Carr said on Monday that his players must play with the mindset that they want to win and not let the situation get in the way.
“It’s just a matter of playing the right way,” Carr said.
“We have to win games.
If we win games, we win championships.
If not, we lose championships.
We have to play that way.
I think the last thing we want to do is lose games and lose momentum.”
We have some good teams that are winning championships.
I’m going to go out on a limb and say they are the most dominant team in the league right now, and that’s probably not going to change.
“But we have to have the mentality that we want the right things to happen.
If you’re not doing that, you’re going to get frustrated and lose some momentum and then get a little more frustrated and start losing it.”
Carr said the Raiders must start winning football games now and that includes the playoffs.
The Raiders, who are 2-5 after their season opener, have not made the playoffs since 2007 and have won just nine games in the past five seasons.
They have lost five straight and five of their past six.
“This year, the last few weeks, I thought we were getting a little bit too predictable,” Carr added.
“There were some things that we weren’t doing that were good enough, or we weren [playing] enough.”
I think the guys had to go back to the drawing board.
They had to figure it out.
We’ve got to get some things right.
I want us to have a better season.
