Dolan’s relationship with the Rockets has always been rocky.
But this year, the Houston Rockets have struggled mightily in the playoffs and Dolan has been criticized for not being a leader.
It was not until he had an altercation with a man who was holding up a sign with a quote, “I’m the boss!” that Dolan was able to get his players to step up and be vocal.
Dolan, who has been at the helm of the Rockets for four years, will be an integral part of the organization for a while.
But in his latest interview, he admitted that he is not the next Bill Belichick.
He admitted he’s not the same coach he was before.
“I was the guy who wasn’t a great coach,” Dolan said.
“And I didn’t have the patience for it.
And I didn’st have the discipline.
And sometimes you just have to embrace it. “
That’s just the way I am.
And sometimes you just have to embrace it.
It’s been a process.”
The former Spurs coach also admitted that the pressure of coaching the Spurs and working for Popovich in New York has been tough on him.
“He’s one of the greatest coaches I’ve ever had the privilege to coach,” he said.
So much so, that Dameron, who is a member of Popovich’s family, had to get a new job.
But Dolan is optimistic about his future with the team.
“We’re going to be here for a long time.
And if I have the right opportunity to be in a position to be successful, that’s my dream,” Dameron said.
He said he was able with the Spurs to win three titles and he’s confident in the future.
“It’s not going to stop,” Dola said.
And with a franchise in flux, he thinks Popovich will be around for a very long time to come.
“If he’s still around, I’ll always be able to look back on it and look at my career and see what I could’ve done differently,” Daley said.
